The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority updated its 10 January 2025 public warning about a bogus operation claiming to be “Fairbairn Private Bank” in the Isle of Man, after becoming aware of a further seemingly linked website, www.fairbairnprivate.co.uk. The Authority also flagged fairbairnprivate.com, the email address info@fairbairnprivate.com, and documents purporting to originate from Fairbairn Private Bank relating to account opening and other financial offerings as bogus. The websites claim to represent Fairbairn Private Bank (IOM) Limited, provide an Isle of Man address at St Mary’s Court, 20 Hill Street, Douglas, and purport to offer a range of financial products including banking services. The Authority said it has not established any association between the sites and any genuine Isle of Man companies or businesses, and the stated address occupiers have confirmed no connection. It also noted that offering the advertised services in or from the Isle of Man would require licensing or registration, and that Fairbairn Private Wealth (IOM) Limited is not licensed or registered with the Authority. The Authority warned that users of the sites may become victims of fraud or that the activity may be aimed at obtaining personal data for identity theft, and advised those already dealing with the sites to consider notifying their local police.
