Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users (CONDUSEF) published complaints statistics for San Luis Potosí covering January to September 2025, reporting 4,325 complaints, a 7.8% increase versus the same period in 2024 and representing 2.2% of complaints nationally. The amount claimed totalled MXN 107.3 million (down 6.9%), while the amount recovered reached MXN 21.9 million (up 5.8%). Complaints came from users in 44 of the state's 58 municipalities, led by San Luis Potosí municipality (58.9%), followed by Soledad de Graciano Sánchez (13.8%) and Ciudad Valles (2.2%). Most cases were handled through CONDUSEF’s electronic case-management process (63.6%), with 17.4% processed via REDECO for debt-collection agency conduct and 19.0% through other processes. The most complained-about products were credit cards, the special credit report and personal loans (41.0% combined), while the leading causes were unrecognised purchases, unrecognised account charges and failure to update credit history (24.8% combined). By sector, multiple banking accounted for 53.7% of complaints, followed by insurers (12.9%) and credit information societies (12.5%); within multiple banking, 24.4% involved older adults and 46.6% related to possible fraud, mainly unrecognised purchases and unrecognised electronic transfers.
