The Central Bank of Samoa, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, held a workshop for Samoa’s financial sector on green banking and sustainable finance. Participants examined how financial institutions can support climate-resilient investment and sustainable growth, with particular attention to rising demand for renewable energy financing, including solar photovoltaic systems for households and businesses. Representatives from commercial banks and other financial and business institutions applied sustainable finance, environmental, social and governance, and green credit risk concepts to practical scenarios. Discussions identified the need to strengthen institutional capacity, improve awareness of green finance products and enhance the management of climate-related risks.
