Guernsey's Committee for Economic Development used the inaugural Guernsey Digital Assets Conference to set out its approach to digital assets, linking the opportunity to work on maintaining the integrity, strength and stability of Guernsey’s regulatory ecosystem while supporting innovation. The Committee also confirmed that digital assets and decentralised finance will be examined in the research and development phase of the forthcoming Finance Sector Policy Framework, which is intended to establish a long-term strategic vision for Guernsey’s finance sector. The conference explored blockchain, tokenisation and decentralised technologies, with discussions including what Guernsey can do to facilitate these developments. Work on the Finance Sector Policy Framework is being developed collaboratively with Guernsey Finance, the Guernsey International Business Association, the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and the Innovate Guernsey Board. The Committee said it intends to share further news on the Finance Sector Policy Framework shortly.
