ISDA has published a January 2025 edition of IQ to open a year of publications and events marking its 40th anniversary, combining reflections on key documentation milestones with a forward-looking 2025 work programme. The update also flags a change in ISDA’s governance, with Eric Litvack recently stepping down as chairman of the board. The anniversary feature revisits ISDA’s origins in 1985 and early standardisation efforts, including the Code of Standard Wording, Assumptions and Provisions for Swaps and subsequent milestones such as the ISDA Master Agreement and the development of protocols. It includes a roundtable with seven industry figures and an interview with Ashley Alder, chair of the UK Financial Conduct Authority. For 2025, ISDA highlights further progress on its review of the 1998 FX and Currency Option Definitions, continued work to digitise documentation, and a planned launch of the ISDA Notices Hub. ISDA indicates the anniversary content will continue through a year-long series of publications and events, alongside delivery of the 2025 projects it has outlined.
