The Central Bank of Taiwan reported that banks’ derivatives turnover increased 20.48% from May to TWD 26,065.8 billion in June 2026, primarily driven by growth in foreign exchange swap turnover. Foreign exchange contracts dominated activity at TWD 21,810.5 billion, or 83.67% of the total, while interest rate contracts accounted for TWD 3,929.1 billion, or 15.07%. Contracts between foreign currencies rose 23.61% month over month and represented 59.05% of total turnover, while contracts involving the New Taiwan dollar increased 16.22% and accounted for 40.95%. Domestic banks generated 71.58% of turnover, and the five largest participants accounted for 39.98%.
