EBA CLEARING announced that CBI is extending its Request to Pay service to the corporate market through participating payment service providers, using EBA CLEARING’s R2P infrastructure service and Nexi’s technology. The offering allows companies to send structured digital payment requests directly from their enterprise systems to customers in Italy and across the Single Euro Payments Area, with requests delivered through internet and mobile banking applications and paid without manual data entry. The service is designed to improve business collections by separating the payment request from the final payment authorisation while giving the payer visibility over the request and the requesting party. Pre-filled data and notifications are intended to reduce fraud and errors, while automated reconciliation can be integrated into accounting systems to cut paper-based processes and operating costs. The release also notes that the same infrastructure is already in use for payments to the Italian Public Administration, and says the corporate extension is aligned with European standards and electronic invoicing processes, supporting broader cross-border use cases.
