The Albania Financial Services Authority released its statistical bulletin on Albania’s insurance market for January–October 2025, reporting gross written premiums of ALL 22,397 million, up 10.53% from the same period in 2024. The number of insurance contracts reached 1,384,414, a 5.12% increase, while gross claims paid were around ALL 6,903 million, down 1.99% year on year. Non-life insurance accounted for 91.65% of premium volume, compared with 8.32% for life insurance and 0.030% for reinsurance. Compulsory insurance represented 62.08% of total premiums, with compulsory motor premiums at around ALL 13,903 million (+12.95%): domestic MTPL premiums grew 13.97% and contracts 7.47%, Green Card premiums rose 10.39% with contracts up 0.11%, and border insurance premiums fell 1.47% with contracts down 1.77%. Voluntary insurance premiums totalled around ALL 8,493 million (+6.79%) and contracts increased 6.58%; within voluntary non-life, property, liability and guarantee portfolios generated over ALL 3,581 million, led by fire and other property damage (67.07%) and general liability (23.25%). Motor insurance made up the bulk of claims paid at ALL 5,278 million, representing 76.45% of total paid claims and 0.35% lower than January–October 2024. The average paid claim increased for domestic MTPL to ALL 161,000 (from ALL 156,000) and for casco to ALL 120,000 (from ALL 113,000), while the Green Card average fell to ALL 566,000 (from ALL 1,011,000); paid-claims figures include Compensation Fund claims reported by the Albanian Insurance Bureau.
