The Central Bank of the UAE said Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama met Indonesia’s ambassador to the UAE, Judha Nugraha, to discuss deeper bilateral financial and banking cooperation, with a particular focus on connecting payment systems and improving cross-border payments. The discussions centered on cooperation that could support faster, more efficient, transparent and lower-cost payment flows between the two countries, alongside broader efforts to strengthen their strategic economic partnership. The meeting also covered mechanisms to accelerate digital financial innovation in support of growing trade and investment between the UAE and Indonesia. In remarks linked to the meeting, the ambassador pointed to Local Currency Transactions, stronger cross-border payment connectivity and continued knowledge exchange as areas that could further reinforce bilateral trade, investment and central bank cooperation.
