The Bank of Albania reported that the Resolution Fund increased by ALL 1.18 billion in April 2026 after collecting the annual contribution from banks, bringing the fund to ALL 8.22 billion. The update reflects the ninth year of contributions since the fund was established in 2018 to support the use of bank resolution tools. Under Albania’s bank recovery and resolution law, the fund must reach 0.5% of the banking system’s total liabilities, measured as total assets minus regulatory capital, within 10 years of the law’s entry into force. The Bank of Albania said the fund is required to reach ALL 9.4 billion by 2027. The 2026 contribution was calculated under the applicable regulation on the Resolution Fund and was paid in full, on a proportional basis, by all banks by 30 April 2026. The Deposit Insurance Agency manages the fund under a financial asset management policy approved by the Bank of Albania.
