The National Bank of Moldova reported that Governor Anca Dragu met in Brussels with Member of the European Parliament Andrea Wechsler, a member of the European Parliament delegation for EU–Moldova relations, to discuss Moldova’s progress toward joining the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) and broader steps in EU-related financial integration. The discussions also covered the future EU Multiannual Financial Framework and planned financial support through the Growth Plan. Dragu highlighted the central bank’s involvement in EU accession negotiations across multiple chapters, while Wechsler underscored the National Bank of Moldova’s role in transforming and strengthening Moldova’s financial sector and indicated continuing European Parliament support, including in the context of the energy crisis. The meeting formed part of Dragu’s two-day working visit to Brussels, which included discussions with European Commission officials and other Members of the European Parliament. The Growth Plan referenced in the talks is scheduled for a vote in the European Parliament next week.
