The Central Bank of Ireland issued a warning notice stating that Irish Term Deposits is not authorised to provide investment services or investment business services in Ireland and is presenting as an unauthorised firm. The warning identifies a network of websites used by the operators, including comparetermdeposits-ie.com, fixedtermdeposits-ie.com, termdeposits-ie.com, fixedtermdeposits-dgs.com and Irishtermdeposits.com. It describes the activity as a “comparison website scam” in which consumers submit contact and investment details via an online form and are later contacted by phone or email by fraudsters claiming to represent well-known banks and offering fake “Fixed Income Deposits”, often supported by official-looking brochures using bank names and branding. The firm name is published under section 53 of the Central Bank (Supervision and Enforcement) Act 2013.
