The Central Bank of Kenya is marking its 60th anniversary with a week of events bringing together African central bank governors, regulators, financial institutions, researchers and international experts. The program includes the Association of African Central Banks Annual Meetings, hosted in Kenya for the first time this decade, and the central bank’s inaugural artificial intelligence conference. The Sept. 16 AI conference will examine the opportunities and risks that artificial intelligence presents for the financial sector, focusing on its responsible use in monetary policy, financial regulation and supervision, and data analytics. An Association of African Central Banks governors’ symposium on Sept. 17 will address African monetary integration, financial sovereignty and reduced dependence on international institutions, followed by the Assembly of Governors meeting on Sept. 18.
