The Central Bank of Taiwan reported that foreign exchange reserves declined by USD 1.15 billion in September 2026 to USD 600.75 billion at month-end. The change reflected returns from reserve management, exchange rate movements among reserve currencies against the U.S. dollar and central bank intervention to smooth volatile capital flows and maintain an orderly foreign exchange market. Foreign portfolio investors held securities and New Taiwan dollar deposits with a combined market value of USD 1.9272 trillion at the end of September, equivalent to 321% of foreign exchange reserves.
