The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Economy and Tourism held a bilateral meeting with the Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority to strengthen cooperation and exchange experience on anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism, including regulatory and supervisory practices. The discussions covered global developments and emerging financial crime risks, with the UAE side outlining its approach to updating its legislative and regulatory framework and aligning with international standards, including recent removals from the Financial Action Task Force Enhanced Watchlist and the European Parliament list of high-risk third countries. The Ministry also presented work on the Nomu National Economic Registry to provide a unified digital database of commercial licences, efforts to unify beneficial ownership procedures and requirements, and supervisory awareness measures for designated non-financial businesses and professions such as brokers, real estate agents, precious metals traders, independent accountants, auditors, and corporate service providers.
