The South African Reserve Bank has invited policy, empirical and theoretical research for its 2027 Financial Stability Research Symposium, which will examine financial stability and macroprudential policy in South Africa. The in-person symposium will comprise sessions in Pretoria in June 2027 and at Stellenbosch University in August 2027. Priority topics include systemic risks in banks and non-bank financial institutions, capital flows and financial markets, macroprudential tools, crypto assets and stablecoins, artificial intelligence, climate-related risks and interactions between policies affecting financial stability. Full papers are preferred, although extended abstracts of about 500 to 1,000 words will be considered. Submissions close on Feb. 26, 2027, and successful authors will be notified by March 31, 2027. The Reserve Bank will cover local return economy-class airfares and accommodation for presenters participating in the program.
