The Philippines Insurance Commission reported continued balance-sheet and sales growth in the pre-need industry in the first quarter of 2026, although net income fell sharply as trust fund earnings weakened. Total net worth rose 12.18% year over year to PHP 32.36 billion, while premium income increased 12.31% to PHP 6.53 billion and the number of plans sold grew 11.92% to 244,233. Total assets increased 9.60% to PHP 179.32 billion, driven mainly by investments in trust funds, while liabilities rose 9.05% to PHP 146.96 billion, primarily because of higher pre-need reserves. Net income contracted 88.05% to PHP 0.14 billion from PHP 1.17 billion, reflecting lower trust fund income amid market volatility, inflationary pressures, global economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions. Life and memorial products accounted for 99.92% of plans sold.
