The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan organised a two-day “Sustainable Finance” training programme for the banking sector on 30–31 October 2025, delivered by Ernst & Young (EY) experts, to strengthen capabilities linked to the green transition. In opening remarks, Executive Director Shahin Mahmudzadə highlighted the importance of building human capital and referenced joint projects with partners. Day one focused on climate-related financial disclosures, covering IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 standards, the Global Reporting Initiative and other international frameworks, including their objectives, key requirements, global implementation experience and integration across reporting frameworks. Day two addressed the calculation and management of banks’ financed emissions, including methodologies for estimating emissions.
