Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Fund Administrators (SBS) published practical guidance for Financial Education Week, running from 29 September to 5 October, and announced an agenda of outreach activities in Lima and multiple regions, alongside the launch of a new “Aprende con la SBS” section on its website. The guidance focuses on core personal finance and fraud-prevention practices, including building a budget, setting savings goals, placing savings only with SBS-supervised entities covered by the Deposit Insurance Fund (FSD), using credit responsibly by paying on time and more than the minimum payment, and protecting financial information by avoiding suspicious links and not sharing personal data or lending accounts. It also advises cardholders to verify the amount shown on the point-of-sale terminal before paying. The planned workshops, delivered in-person and virtually by SBS specialists, target groups including entrepreneurs, salaried workers, mothers, community kitchen participants, and young people; the new web section is intended to consolidate accessible information on the financial sectors supervised and regulated by the SBS.
