The Hong Kong Monetary Authority reported that Hong Kong’s official foreign currency reserve assets declined to USD 442.9 billion at the end of August 2026 from USD 447.9 billion at the end of July. The reserves represented more than five times the currency in circulation and about 37% of Hong Kong dollar M3. There were no unsettled foreign exchange contracts at the end of either August or July 2026.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority reported that official foreign currency reserves fell by USD 5 billion to USD 442.9 billion at the end of August 2026. The total represented more than five times the currency in circulation and about 37% of Hong Kong dollar M3, with no unsettled foreign exchange contracts.
