The Bank of Slovenia has announced a series of events marking 35 years since the introduction of the tolar on Oct. 8, 1991, and 20 years since Slovenia adopted the euro and joined the Eurosystem on Jan. 1, 2007. A central celebration, titled “From Value to Values,” will take place in Ljubljana on Nov. 5 and will examine Slovenia’s monetary development, European integration and the future of money. The program includes an exhibition on Slovenia’s transition from the tolar to the euro at the National and University Library in Ljubljana from Oct. 8, 2026, to Feb. 13, 2027. Financial literacy activities will include a children’s workshop and a competition inviting students to design a banknote reflecting the legacy of the tolar and 20 years of the euro in Slovenia.
