Hong Kong's Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said the Financial Secretary, under delegated authority from the Chief Executive, has appointed James Liu Hong-yuen, Benson Wong Wai-bong and Professor George Yang Yong to the Financial Reporting Review Panel and reappointed Ernest Lee Chun-ho as a convenor. The appointments run for three years from July 16, 2026, to July 15, 2029. The changes were made under the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council Ordinance. With effect from July 16, 2026, the panel will comprise six convenors and 20 members. The bureau said the panel supports the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council's statutory enquiry function into non-compliance with legal, accounting or regulatory requirements in the financial reports of listed entities. When a case arises, the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council may appoint one convenor and at least four panel members to form a Financial Reporting Review Committee, which investigates the case and submits a report for consideration and any follow-up action.
