SWIFT has appointed Michael Manos as chief information officer, putting him in charge of the company’s technology platform strategy across network, security and cloud capabilities. He will be responsible for maintaining the security and resilience of SWIFT’s core services and systems while supporting its technology agenda, including digital innovation in payments and tokenisation. Manos replaces Cheri McGuire, who has served as chief technology officer since 2021 and is retiring. The role includes oversight of SWIFT’s work on post-quantum cryptography, its response to frontier artificial intelligence, and a multi-year roadmap to adopt new cryptographic standards without disrupting interoperability or service continuity for the global financial industry. SWIFT said its infrastructure is used by more than 11,500 banks, financial institutions and corporates. Manos joins from Dun & Bradstreet, where he was chief technology officer, and brings more than 30 years of experience in technology operations, infrastructure, platform automation, and payments, banking and e-commerce platforms.
