The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City released its July Manufacturing Survey, showing that business activity in the Tenth District manufacturing sector continued to expand at a steady pace. Expectations for future activity also remained expansionary, with about half of surveyed firms expecting demand to be higher for the rest of the year. The survey also showed some easing in cost pressures, as growth in input prices slowed slightly from the prior month. At the same time, a majority of firms reported that their profit margins had decreased since the beginning of the year. The bank also noted that the June survey incorporates new seasonal adjustment factors using Census X-13 ARIMA-SEATS, which means historical indexes differ slightly from previously released figures, and those factors will be used throughout 2026.
