The National Bank of Moldova reported that its Governor, Anca Dragu, received a career leadership award at the Invest Energy Gala in Bucharest and used her remarks to frame energy diversification as a macro-financial priority for Moldova. She highlighted the strategic importance of energy interconnection with Romania and integration into the European ENTSO-E network, pointing to their role in strengthening economic independence. Dragu argued that energy dependence translates directly into economic vulnerability and inflationary pressure when external shocks drive large swings in energy prices, affecting households and prompting firms to pass higher costs on to consumers. She added that the central bank has responded through careful calibration of monetary policy alongside leveraging European financial support aimed at stabilising the energy market, and described the recognition as reflecting the National Bank of Moldova team’s efforts to maintain macroeconomic balance in a complex regional environment.
