Ireland's Department of Finance reported that Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Simon Harris held a phone call with European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde, covering EU inflation, Europe’s competitiveness challenge, banking-sector integration and deeper capital markets, and the digital euro as it proceeds through the EU legislative process. The update also noted contacts with UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, with both agreeing to meet in person, and a meeting with Irish Fiscal Advisory Council chair Seamus Coffey. Harris has also begun a series of calls with EU finance ministers, starting with Greece’s Kyriakos Pierrakakis. Pierrakakis is due to visit Dublin on Monday week, and an in-person meeting with Reeves is planned for the near future.
