The Guernsey Financial Services Commission launched its Digital Finance Initiative, a programme intended to ensure the financial services legislation it administers and related supervisory tools are aligned with innovations in digital finance. The initiative includes establishing a Digital Forum to structure dialogue with practitioners and generate inputs for future policy consultations. Roundtables and workshops under the Digital Forum will be used to gather industry insight before the Commission drafts formal consultations on potential policy improvements. The programme also includes reviewing opportunities to enhance guidance in the Handbook on Countering Financial Crime to support firms’ effective use of technology, further developing the Commission’s regulatory concierge service to encourage early conversations on licensing novel digital finance propositions, and continuing its consultation on reducing Virtual Asset Service Provider licence application fees. The Digital Forum will officially launch with a roundtable on stablecoin infrastructure on 16 September 2025, with formal consultations to be drafted once participant insights have been received.
