Mexico's National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV) and the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) released the main findings from the 2024 National Survey of Business Financing (ENAFIN 2024), providing updated statistics on how Mexico’s private non-financial enterprises access, use and understand financing and financial services, including barriers and terms. The headline results point to progress in financial inclusion alongside remaining gaps in firms’ access to the financial system. The survey provides nationally representative data that can be broken down by firm size (micro, small, medium and large), economic sector (construction, manufacturing, commerce and private non-financial services) and locality size (50,000 to 499,999 inhabitants, and 500,000 or more). ENAFIN 2024 also adds questions on financial planning, technology use and digital financial services, firms’ knowledge of financial authorities and sectors, and issues related to financial products, and for the first time includes a gender perspective based on ownership and decision-making within the firm.
