The Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority said it has secured the right to host the 2026 Global Forum on Private Pensions, which it will organize jointly with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the International Organisation of Pension Supervisors. The two-day forum will be held in Hong Kong on 8 and 9 December 2026 under the theme of empowering pension systems through good design and innovation. It is expected to bring together around 1,000 participants, including pension regulators from more than 80 OECD and IOPS member jurisdictions, experts from research institutes, representatives of international organizations and local guests. The program will cover private pension issues including digitalization and artificial intelligence in pension systems, life-cycle investment strategies, voluntary contributions, the role of capital markets in retirement protection and supervisory practices. The event will open with addresses by Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee and IOPS President Astrid Ludin, while Financial Secretary Paul Chan is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the gala dinner. The release also notes that this will be the second time Hong Kong has hosted the annual forum, after 2016. Alongside the forum, IOPS will hold its 2026 Annual General Meeting and Committee Meetings in Hong Kong on 7 and 8 December. MPFA also plans a dedicated workshop on 10 December on the eMPF platform, covering its design, development, operations and the authority's related regulatory initiatives for the Mandatory Provident Fund ecosystem.
