The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced the appointment of Judge Margaret “Meg” Ryan as Director of the Division of Enforcement, effective 2 September 2025. Acting Director Sam Waldon will return to his previous role as Chief Counsel for the Division. Ryan is a senior judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and currently lectures on military law and justice at Harvard University Law School. Waldon has served as Acting Director of Enforcement since January 2025 and previously held roles including Acting Deputy Director and Chief Counsel.
