The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) ordered the blocking of three websites that it says are illegally offering insurance services. The order covers www.assicurafacilerisparmio.com and assurafacilerisparmio.com, www.assicurazioniavivamaglie.org and assicurazioniavivamaglie.org, and rc.polizzeistantanee.eu. Blocking is being carried out by internet service providers operating in Italy and may take a few days for technical reasons. IVASS said the total number of abusive sites blocked since it began exercising this power in November 2023 has reached 334, and warned consumers to be wary of policy offers made via instant messaging (including WhatsApp) or phone messages and of payment requests using prepaid credit cards, and to check the official lists of authorised intermediaries and supervised insurers.
