The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan reported on a meeting with a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development delegation led by Vice President for Policy and Partnerships Mark Bowman, focused on the implementation of the EBRD's existing projects in Tajikistan and prospects for further cooperation. The discussion covered banking sector reform and financial market development, including exchange rate policy, digitalization of the banking system, the PCI programme, compliance, mortgage lending requirements, and development of the insurance and securities markets. The sides also exchanged views on capacity building for regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, risk management and modern supervisory methods, climate-related risks, green economy financing, investment by financial credit institutions, and sustainable finance. The central bank described the EBRD as a strategic partner in strengthening Tajikistan's banking system and supporting economic and financial reforms and private sector development, while Bowman indicated that the EBRD was ready to continue that support.
