The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo reported that Governor Ahmet Ismaili met in Brussels with Single Resolution Board Chair Dominique Laboureix and Board Member Karen Braun-Munzinger to strengthen cooperation aimed at aligning Kosovo’s regulatory and supervisory framework with European Union standards, with a focus on financial stability, bank resolution and consumer protection. Ismaili outlined recent developments and central bank initiatives covering financial stability measures, banking supervision reforms, payments infrastructure modernisation and the consumer protection framework, alongside the establishment of a resolution function in line with EU legislation. He also provided updates on Kosovo’s pre-application process for Single Euro Payments Area membership and progress on implementing a real-time payments system in cooperation with Banca d’Italia, while discussions emphasised capacity building and legal harmonisation in bank resolution, with the SRB signalling readiness to support Kosovo’s resolution framework development.
