The European Central Bank published euro area bank interest rate statistics for July 2026, showing that composite borrowing costs remained broadly unchanged at 3.80% for new corporate loans and 3.54% for new household loans for house purchase. Composite rates on new deposits with agreed maturity rose by 5 basis points to 2.26% for corporations and 2.14% for households. Movements within lending categories were mixed. The rate on new household consumption loans increased by 9 basis points to 7.60%, while the rate on loans to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships rose by 18 basis points to 4.29%. Overnight deposit rates remained broadly unchanged at 0.60% for corporations and 0.28% for households.
