The Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) amended its internal rules to create a Financial Technology Division and establish responsibilities for advanced analytical and computational tools. The changes cover governance and the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence, including the development, implementation, review and monitoring of related internal policies and procedures. The new division will monitor technological change and financial innovation in capital markets, assess effects on regulated markets and support other CVM units. Its initial work includes technical support for the 2026-2027 securities tokenization project and the next regulatory sandbox round, as well as monitoring international discussions in the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ Fintech Task Force. The measure also adjusts the responsibilities of units covering intelligence development, data governance and protection, procurement, intermediary supervision, and market statistics and monitoring. The amended internal rules took effect on July 31, 2026.
