Estonia's Financial Supervisory Authority (Finantsinspektsioon) imposed a EUR 200,000 fine on Bondora AS for a misdemeanour linked to breaches of responsible lending principles. Finantsinspektsioon found that between 06.12.2023 and 24.02.2024 Bondora AS entered into consumer credit contracts without assessing all legally required indicators for consumers or ensuring that contractual liabilities could be met under the agreed terms. The authority concluded this breached the obligation to assess consumers’ credit capacity and constituted a misdemeanour under § 99 (2) of the Creditors and Credit Intermediaries Act. Bondora AS may dispute the decision in accordance with the procedures set out in law.
