The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures, in partnership with Accounting for Sustainability, has published Asking Better Questions on Nature for CFOs, a guide to help chief financial officers assess how nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities could affect a company’s financial performance and future prospects. It is intended to embed nature-related considerations into core finance decisions, including risk management, capital allocation, valuation, performance management, financial planning and strategic decision making. Built around a set of questions for CFOs, their finance teams and the wider organisation, the guide sets out what information finance leaders should seek and how to connect nature-related insights to financial and risk processes. It also aims to help CFOs respond to increasing scrutiny from boards, investors and other stakeholders, and includes practical examples and links to further TNFD and A4S resources. The publication is the latest in TNFD’s Asking Better Questions on Nature series, following earlier guides for board directors and asset owners.
