The Central Bank of Chile has launched the 22nd edition of its “Economía más cerca” national school contest, aimed at strengthening financial education among secondary students by asking them to explain how the economy, the financial system and the central bank work. The 2025 edition is framed around the institution’s centenary and requires entries to address the Bank’s past and future role. Participation is open to student teams from first to fourth year of secondary school, guided by a teacher, with two categories and centenary-related questions: younger students are asked about the Bank’s main contributions to inflation control over the past 100 years, while older students are asked to imagine the Bank’s role over the next 100 years given its mandate for currency stability and the domestic and external payments system. Submissions must be a vertical “reel”-style video of up to two minutes, and the contest is again organised with the participation of Chilean public broadcaster TVN’s NTV. Entries can be registered and submitted via the “Central en tu vida” website from now until 30 September.
