The National Bank of Serbia published 2024 statistics for the IPS NBS instant payments system, showing continued expansion in both volumes and values. The system processed 87.2 million instant payments in 2024, up 30.2% from 2023, and the total value exceeded RSD 1 trillion for the first time, rising 45.5% year on year. Compared with 2020, volumes were up 247.9% and values increased by 373.3%. Daily volume records were broken four times during 2024, with a peak of 444,994 payments on 15 November, and the latest daily record cited was 453,656 payments on 14 February 2025; average daily payments in 2024 were 238,246 and the average payment value was RSD 12,000. Payments made on weekends and public and religious holidays totalled 15.1 million, with a value of RSD 121.3 billion. Three new indirect participants joined in 2024 (Tenfore, PAYSPOT and Alta Pay Group), and the total number of indirect participants reached five on 3 February 2025 when WAKEL joined; the number of payment service providers offering the mobile-number-based Transfer service increased to 13. The release also outlines available IPS services, including NBS IPS QR code-based payments, IPS scan and IPS show at points of sale, a deep-link online payment method, and QR code generator and validator tools, and points readers to graphical statistics for 2023–2024 on the central bank’s website.
