The National Bank of Bulgaria, together with the European Central Bank, has published informational materials to support public awareness activities related to the introduction of the euro in the Republic of Bulgaria, focusing on the design and security features of euro banknotes. The package includes a poster aimed at the general public and visualisations of security elements intended for staff training. It also directs users to the European Central Bank’s detailed descriptions and images for each denomination of both the Europa series and the first series of euro banknotes using the “feel-look-tilt” method. For procurement of devices used to verify the authenticity of euro banknotes, the National Bank of Bulgaria recommends choosing equipment from the list published by the European Central Bank, while a recommended list for euro coin authentication devices is available from the European Commission’s European Technical and Scientific Centre.
