The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) announced that it has coordinated with the insurance industry to deliver essential supplies to support people affected by flooding in southern Thailand, under the Ministry of Finance initiative “Than Namjai helps southern flood victims”. OIC Secretary-General Chuchat Pramoonpol received the donations at the OIC’s headquarters to facilitate rapid and broad distribution. The effort involved 29 organisations, comprising the OIC, four insurance associations, 10 life insurers, seven non-life insurers and seven other insurance companies. Donations included rice, dried food, drinking water, clothing, medicines and medical supplies, backup power equipment and other necessities, to be transported by truck and aircraft to the Ministry of Finance’s Vayupak Network Assistance Coordination Centre for onward allocation to local Ministry of Finance units and affected communities. The OIC also indicated the insurance industry would work to accelerate insurance claims payments and provide insurance-related assistance during the flooding situation.
