Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Funds (SBS) updated the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) framework applicable to legal entities operating casino games and/or slot machines supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), aiming to align the regime with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations. The updated rules clarify scope and set out core components of the AML/CFT prevention system, including due diligence on directors, employees and suppliers, training, a prevention manual and code, appointment of a (corporate and, where relevant, alternate) compliance officer, suspicious transaction reporting (ROS), the compliance officer’s annual report, internal audit, and controls related to the financing of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Resolution SBS No. 01015-2026 also amends the AML/CFT infringements and sanctions regulation to bring into scope entities offering remote games and/or remote sports betting, as well as sports betting venues using the internet, strengthening Mincetur’s sanctioning capacity; the framework replaces the prior rules under Resolution SBS No. 1695-2016 and reiterates that SBS, through UIF-Peru, issues AML/CFT rules in coordination with Mincetur, which supervises compliance and applies sanctions.
