The Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market published its second-quarter update on organizations engaged in microfinance activity. Assets rose 0.2% during the quarter to KZT 3.5 trillion as of July 1, driven by growth in pawnshop property accepted as microcredit collateral, but remained 0.1% below the start of 2026. The loan portfolio declined 0.6% to KZT 3.1 trillion, mainly because pawnshops issued fewer microcredits, although it was up 0.8% from the beginning of the year. Business microcredits fell 1% to KZT 1.7 trillion following repayments of seasonal loans from credit partnerships, while lending to individuals decreased 0.2% to KZT 1.4 trillion, primarily reflecting lower pawnshop consumer lending. The ratio of loans more than 90 days overdue fell to 3.9% from 4.9% a year earlier, including a decline to 5.1% from 7.4% for individual borrowers. Liabilities and equity each increased 0.2% during the quarter, reaching KZT 2.3 trillion and KZT 1.3 trillion, respectively.
