The Central Bank of Barbados warned that fraudsters are using WhatsApp calls displaying the Bank's logo and falsely claiming to be connected to the Bank and BiMPay. The reported calls originated from numbers with a Pakistani country code. The Bank said the calls did not come from it and that it will not make unsolicited calls about BiMPay. The notice advises the public not to share sensitive information such as passwords, PINs or security codes with callers claiming to represent the Bank or BiMPay. People who have already disclosed such information were told to contact the Bank through verified channels and secure their accounts, including by changing passwords or PINs. Suspicious calls should also be reported, where appropriate, to the Barbados Police Service, and the public was urged to rely on the Bank's official channels and other credible sources for information.
