The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan has adopted Board Resolution No. 89 amending certain regulatory acts on anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and countering the financing of proliferation, expanding the required measures for identifying customers’ beneficial owners in internal control rules. Under the updated requirements, information provided by the customer (or its representative) and the beneficial owner must be verified by comparing it with data in the register of beneficial owners of legal entities. Where the register does not contain information on such persons, the submitted information must be checked against information from other sources.
