The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in a first practice-oriented conference on integrating the ESG agenda and sustainable development principles into Kazakhstan’s financial sector, hosted by JSC Altyn Bank. In remarks at the event, the Director of the Securities Market Department, Aidyn Dauletbak, outlined the agency’s current focus on embedding ESG principles and standards across financial institutions. Work under way includes developing guidance and methodology for financial organisations in line with international ESG standards, running climate stress testing for the banking sector, and supporting the integration of ESG products such as ESG bonds and green loans. The agency also highlighted a focus on digital monitoring of lending and on advancing gender equality and support for women entrepreneurs through the WE Finance Code initiative.
