Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF) published data on consumer complaints filed in Nuevo León for January to August 2025, reporting 6,855 cases, a 1.6% decline versus the same period in 2024, representing 3.9% of complaints nationwide. The amount claimed totalled MXN 374.1 million (down 7.4%), while the amount recovered was MXN 36.9 million (down 54.1%). Complaints came from users in 39 of the state’s 51 municipalities, led by Monterrey (23.6%), followed by San Nicolás de los Garza (8.9%), Guadalupe (8.2%) and Apodaca (8.1%). CONDUSEF handled 54.5% of cases through its Electronic Management process, 28.2% through REDECO (collection-agency related complaints), and 17.3% through other processes. Credit cards, debit cards and personal loans accounted for 48.0% of complaints; leading causes included unrecognised transactions and alleged improper debt collection practices, together representing 37.8% of cases. By sector, multiple banking represented 64.3% of complaints, followed by insurers (13.9%) and SOFOM ENR entities (10.5%); within multiple banking, 26.0% of complaints involved older adults and 49.9% were linked to potential fraud, mainly unrecognised purchases and unrecognised account charges.
