The Uganda Insurance Regulatory Authority issued a clarification on accreditation for 2026 for foreign reinsurers and reinsurance brokers, confirming that the revised fees apply to both renewal and first-time applications. The annual accreditation fee is USD 7,500 for reinsurance brokers and USD 12,500 for foreign reinsurance companies, payable net of all bank charges. Applicants are required to use the amended application forms going forward. The updated forms set out documentation for new and renewal applications, including evidence of incorporation and home-jurisdiction regulation, the latest financial strength or credit rating (mandatory for reinsurers), audited financial statements (three years for first-time applicants), confirmations of regulatory compliance including for the preceding year due by 31 January 2026, and a matrix of business done with the Ugandan insurance industry in the prior period.
