The Central Bank of Montenegro has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Programme under the FINSTEM project to accelerate the Bank’s digital transformation and support modernisation of Montenegro’s financial sector, with an emphasis on aligning with contemporary European standards. The cooperation framework covers development of the financial sector, enhancement of digital infrastructure, support for innovation, strengthening system security and resilience, capacity building, and promotion of sustainable and green financial practices. The agreement is also positioned as supporting broader harmonisation of Montenegro’s financial system with European Union regulations and standards.
