The Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) announced that its Executive Director Helmut Ettl has been re-elected as Vice-Chairperson of the European Banking Authority (EBA) for a further two-and-a-half year term, continuing as the alternate to EBA Chairperson José Manuel Campa. In this role, Ettl remains a voting member of the EBA Board of Supervisors, the body that takes the EBA’s key policy decisions including adopting draft technical standards, guidelines, opinions and reports. He has represented Austria on the Board of Supervisors since the EBA’s establishment in 2011, has served as Vice-Chairperson since July 2023, and most recently chaired a task force on increasing efficiency in banking supervision that issued 21 recommendations. In the coming weeks and months, Ettl is expected to support the transition to a new EBA Chairperson, as Campa is due to step down at the end of January 2026.
